This is the First ladder of this new unit. You will find the pre-test linked to the left if you need to complete the pre-test. If you are not in school for a while, email me and I'll take a picture of the key. After you have complete the test fill out the ladder (also linked here if you need it). Then use this site to find your targeted work you have to do for each objective. |
TARGETED Practice Based on Ladders:
- If you're working on "I can define proof":
2. Answer the question: Use your definition to explain what you are doing if you are going to prove the Pythagorean Theorem?
- If you're working on "I can define the Pythagorean Theorem":
2. Make sure it is highlighted in your notes.
3. Copy it as new evidence and then explain how you'll remember the theorem in the future.
- If you're working on "I can define the converse of the Pythagorean Theorem.":
2. Write an explanation for the Pythagorean Theorem converse in your notebook.
- If you're working on 8.G.6:
2. Complete A and B 1-3 in this activity to discover the proof of the Pythagorean Theorem. I would suggest cutting out the puzzle pieces (the shaded ones) to help you complete the activity.
3. Formally, write up you conclusion as to why the Pythagorean Theorem is true. In other words, write a proof. Your proof should include the pictures/puzzle from the activity. If you are struggling formally wrting up a proof, please sign up for a mini-lesson.

4. Once you can, write out a proof for the Pythagorean Theorem in a book you will create called "Book of Proofs". During this unit, all informal proofs will be documented in the book and you will turn it in at the end of the unit for a grade. Below is a video of how to create the book.
